Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV)

Solar Photovoltaic Technology is employed for directly converting solar energy to electrical energy by the using “solar silicon cell”. The electricity generated can be utilized for different applications directly or through battery storage system. Solar PV has found wide application in rural areas for various important activities besides rural home lighting. Remote villages deprived of grid power can be easily powered using the Solar Photovoltaic technology. The economics of rural electrification can be attractive considering the high cost of power transmission and erratic power supply in the rural areas.

Home lighting System is powered by solar energy using solar cells that convert solar energy (sunlight) directly to electricity. The electricity is stored in batteries and used for the purpose of lighting whenever required. These systems are useful in non-electrified rural areas and as reliable emergency lighting system for important in domestic.

The Solar Home Lighting system is a fixed installation designed for domestic application. The system comprises of Solar PV Module (Solar Cells), charge controller, battery and lighting system (lamps). The solar module is installed in the open on roof/terrace - exposed to sunlight and the charge controller and battery are kept inside a protected place in the house. The solar module requires periodic dusting for effective performance.

Inverter It converts DC power from solar array to AC for use in home.
Wiring It connects the system components.
Batteries Used to store solar – produced electricity for night time or emergency use. Mainly used to remote sites those are not tied into the electricity grid.
Charge controller Prevents batteries from being over charged.
Disconnect Switches Allows power from a PV system to be turned off.
Electrical meter Measures electrical production and use. Often runs backward if a system is attached to the electrical grid.

Solar Lanterns: It is a very handy/petty and can be carried / used in both indoors and out door. These devices/systems are best alternative to Kerosene Lamps, Gas lamps and conventional emergency lights. A Photovoltaic Module charges the battery fitted in the lantern during day time. The lantern provides light during the night minimum 2 to 4 hours. Different models are available with various configurations to suit the requirements of Customers/Enthusiastic users in the cost range of Rs.1400 to 4,000 in the market.

Solar Home Lighting Systems: These systems are feasible in interior areas wherein there is no electricity supply and can be used daily 4 to 5 hours under emergency circumstances and can be fixed on convenient walls.

Solar Street Lighting System: Solar Street Lighting System is having dusk to dawn facility i.e., Automatic on and off.
